Born on July 9, 1959 in Englewood, New Jersey, Ernest Scott Garrett has quietly proven to be one of the most incompetent Congressman in the United States. As a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives, Garrett represents the 5th District of New Jersey, encompassing most of the Northwestern part of the state. Garrett was originally elected in 2003 and has been re-elected 3 times since.
Garrett is one of the most Conservative members of the U.S. Congress, consistently garnering 100% ratings from the American Conservative Union. He serves on the House Financial Services and Budget Committees and is a member of the Financial Services Subcommittees on Capital Markets, Insurance, and Government Sponsored Enterprises; Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit; and Housing and Community Opportunity.
According to his official website, Congressman Garrett, “is a leading advocate of tax relief and pro-growth economic policies that return the focus to the family budget, authoring and supporting initiatives that keep more of your money in your pocket. Scott Garrett has been working to improve accountability and transparency in budget procedures and other government practices to ensure that government is responsive to your needs.”
While he claims to be an advocate of families and of a government responsive to peoples’ needs, his record indicates the exact opposite :
-Voted No on providing tax incentives for energy production and conservation, as well as for renewable energy (Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act; Renewable Energy and and Energy Conservation Tax Act).
-Voted No on restricting “price gouging” policies by oil companies for gas and other petroleum-related sales (Federal Price Gouging Prevention Act).
-Voted No on prohibiting animal fighting, dog fighting, cock fighting, etc. (Animal Fighting Prohibition Enforcement Act).
-Voted No on providing aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina; 1 of only 11 Congressman to vote No for aid (Further Emergency Supplemental Appropriations, Hurricane Katrina, 2005).
-Voted No on providing federal assistance for prosecution of hate crimes (Local Law Enforcement Hate Crimes Prevention Act of 2007).
-Received a 0% voter rating from the National Farmers Union.
-Received a 0% voter rating from the Disabled American Veterans.
-Received a 0% voter rating from the Humane Society of the United States.
-Received a 0% voter rating from the Americans for the Arts Action Fund.
-Received a 0% voter rating from Citizens for Tax Justice.

I hope this man never gets to walk through the Halls of Congress again. He is an affront to all thinking people. I am aghast that his votes would show how much disregard he has for us and future generations, including his own offspring. He also cares very little about the welfare of defenseless animals. Does this man have a heart? Congressman Garrett and his self-centered Republicans should all be voted out as soon as possible. Our country would be much better off without them. As of now, all they care about is getting President Obama to be a one term President. This is NOT what these so-called representatives of the people were sent to Washington to do. I hope the people in this country wake-up and see what is happening before it’s too late!
