Margareta, thanks for leaving a comment! I agree that we need to take another look at how Congressional districts are drawn in America. This district is a perfect example of how badly the current system needs to be overhauled. Unfortunately it is what we have to work with in trying to defeat Scott Garrett, BUT that doesn’t mean we can’t do it. If everyone who despises Congressman Garrett’s voting history puts in just a little hard work then it should be easy. That’s what this blog is here for – to organize people, in the same way as it was done for President-elect Obama, to bring change to Northern New Jersey.

As highly desirable as it is to elect someone who will truly represent the 5:th congressional district I think there are additional issues that need attention as well.
Take a look at the election district boundaries both here and in most other states. How are they decided and who decides? Should there not be a better system in place that would do a nonpartisan job of designing the election districts instead of the gerrymandered results we are saddled with with its “safe” Republican or Democratic districts. Is that democracy? I don’t believe that unseating Garrett is a viable proposition under current election districts absent his getting caught in some kind of political scandal.
