Take Back the Fifth: Building a Grassroots Movement for 2010
Take Back the Fifth is a site dedicated to building a grassroots movement for the 2010 Congressional Midterm Elections. We are bringing together writers and contributors from all parts of the district to build a strong coalition of Democrats to help the eventual Democratic nominee in 2010.
What we hope to accomplish here is building an organization for the eventual nominee in 2010, keeping the heat on Garrett for his extreme views and votes, and promoting viable candidates to run for the seat.
We want to organize NJ-5 town-by-town, competing for votes in every part of the district, and exposing Garrett for the true right wing ideologue he has been in Congress.
Garrett too often gets a free pass because voters are uninformed and unorganized. Once they know his record and how it affects their day-to-day lives they will be more open to supporting a Democratic candidate.
In such a diverse district spanning from the Pennsylvania border to the Hudson River organization will be difficult and their is no time to lose. This sites main purpose it to facilitate conversation, provoke action, and most importantly keep Garrett’s feet to the fire on his extreme stances in the next Congress.
We look forward to the start of a real grassroots movement and retiring Scott Garrett from the House of Representatives.
